An unusually productive Tuesday...

We started the day off by arriving at the cannery at 8AM to pick up a canner, 36 cans, lids, and oxygen packets.  And returning home by nine with plans of a FULL day of canning.  After prepping everything we started the process at about TEN AM of scooping the food and sealing the cans.  Only 60 mins later... the job was complete!

So I've had bags of powdered milk, rice and sugar sitting in my pantry since '09! The idea of borrowing a canner from the cannery and getting cans and all that and doing it myself seemed UN-real, I had no clue, even where to begin. But the weight of procrastinating the job of actually canning them pushed me out into the UN-known and I did it.  And if I knew it was going to be that easy.  I'd have a lot more canned food to show for it.

David finished the morning off by juicing the lemons we got from my Aunt Elizabeth!  The kids are always so helpful!

That is awesome!! YOu have inspired me to do some dry canning! I ventured into the world of canning fruits and beans, and that was pretty easy! Those memories are also priceless!!
