So David is scoutmaster out here in our world and he has gone on a lot of scout hikes, without us. Scouts is so much apart of our world now, that when the kids wake up in the morning and dad is at work, they ask: "is dad at scouts?" Well needless to say David has promised Trent a few hundred times {I'm exaggerating, thank you Melissa} That we will go on a hike too.
So last sat. David came through with his promise. The camelbaks {which are a fake, but the kids don't care} They were definitely the Highlight of the entire hike. Because all Brooklyn and Trenton know about Hikes are that the scouts show up on our front lawn with big backpacks. So I had to get them some of their own.
Originally David wanted to go on Friday night and hike in, which means he and I would be carrying all of our food and water that we would need plus the sleeping stuff, plus Kendall. I was so excited that he was planning a family outing that I didn't want to discourage anything but... my motherly instincts wouldn't keep quiet and I talked him into starting small.
So we left early Sat. morning and started off on our hike, not even 5 min in, Trenton wanted me to carry him. I would not. It didn't take long to reach this little river, where the kids had most of their fun. If you ask either of them, throwing rocks was the best part.
Kendall was pampered in a little carry on, but we let her experience a little of the walking too.
I just had to add this pick. I love hands, I'm not sure why, but hands are so unique to a person and their lifestyle, for instance David's hands are so strong and rough looking because he uses them a lot building houses and stuff.
I think Kendall had the most fun. She didn't even cry once.
So we only hiked for maybe 20 min. then we played at the river for about an hr. We didn't want to scare the kids away from hiking. We'll definitely make it more grueling as they get older.
This is David dreaming up the next camping trip. I'm not kidding, he's been in camp heaven just dreaming about this new tent/hammock he bought. It finally came in the mail today. I'm sure I'll be posting pics soon.
